The Flag of Niger has been the national symbol of the West African
Republic of Niger since 1959, a year prior to its formal independence
from France.

The flag of Niger is orange over white over green, with an orange disc
on the central white stripe, symbolizing the sun. The proportions for
the flag are 2:3 although other variants are apparently to be seen.
The flag of Niger consists of three equal horizontal bands of orange
(top), white, and green with a small orange disk (representing the
sun) centered in the white band; similar to the flag of India, which
has a blue spoked wheel centered in the white band.
The flag of Niger often has the unusual 7:6 proportions, not the
classic 2:3 proportion. The three bands have exactly the same size.
