Background:
Hungary became a Christian kingdom in A.D. 1000 and for many centuries
served as a bulwark against Ottoman Turkish expansion in Europe.
According to the Hungarian Constitution, the flag of Hungary is a
red-white-green tricolor. However, the tricolor with the coat of arms
in it is more or less used as the de facto national flag.
