The flag of Honduras
This national flag of Honduras was adopted on January 9, 1866, based
on the flag of the Federal Republic of Central America. In 1823
Honduras joined the United Provinces of Central America and adopted
their flag.
The flag of Honduras is composed of 3 equal horizontal stripes, with
the upper and lower ones being blue and representing the Pacific Ocean
and Caribbean Sea. The central stripe is white. It contains five blue
stars representing the five states of the Central American Union.
