Arizona State Legislature. The blue, red, yellow and copper Flag of
Arizona was adopted despite numerous dissenting votes.

The flag of Arizona consists of 13 rays of red and gold (the
conquistador colors and of the flag of Spain) on the top half,
representing the original 13 colonies, as well as portraying Arizona's
legendary sunsets.
The official state flag of Arizona was officially adopted on February
17, 1917. It was designed by Colonel Charles W. Harris (adjutant
general and chief administrative officer of Arizona) and was first
sewn by Nan D. Hayden.
The flag of Arizona, formerly that of the battleship named after the
State, depicts the copper-colored Star of Arizona before the setting
sun. It combines the state colors with those of Imperial Spain.
